The federal government declared a public health emergency (PHE) on January 27, 2020, which remains in effect. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires states to continue Medicaid health coverage for Medicaid enrollees until the end of the PHE, regardless of whether a recipient meets Medicaid eligibility qualifications. Once the PHE ends, currently scheduled for October 13, 2022, Medicaid enrollees not already re-enrolled, will receive a packet to complete and return to the state. If you have not updated your contact information, the packet may not reach you. Here are the steps you can take:
- Create a Your Texas Benefits account or download the Your Texas Benefits mobile app. This is the best way to manage your Medicaid eligibility renewal.
- Update your contact and other information in your account. This is extremely important for HHSC to be able to send you a renewal packet and requests for information.
- Contact your health plan if you need help. The phone number for your health plan’s Member Services can be found on the back of your insurance card. They can help you through the renewal process, including updating your password and submitting your renewal application.
- Be sure to respond to requests from HHSC.
