CCHP is an element of the overall Cook Children’s Health Care System, an integrated delivery system which includes the I.M. Cook Foundation, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Cook Children’s Physicians Network, Cook Children’s Home Health, and Cook Children’s Health Services, among other operations.
CCHP operates a health maintenance organization offering medical insurance and other benefits to 121,000 members in its primary service area. CCHP has been contracted to the State of Texas to provide managed health insurance to children eligible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP) since 2000, and Medicaid State of Texas Access Reform (STAR) Program since September 1, 2006. CCHP maintains a robust network of practitioners, hospitals and other providers in the six county service area in order to maintain a high level of access and care for Health Plan members. The CCHP provider network includes not only the other Cook Children’s Health System entities, but also extends to 7 psychiatric hospitals, 44 additional hospitals, 3,000 community based practitioners, and 300 other health care service providers in its six-county service area.
